Something's in the water

Something must be in the water because I've been doing things I normally don't do around the house.

Like keeping it clean DIY projects. Yah, I didn't stutter. I have done two DIY project and that's all I will probably do for the year, so soak it up!

First up Instagram picture frame!

I bought the frame off of Ebay, spruced it up a bit, and bought my Instagram pics off of Prinstagram! It's actually a pretty sweet site and really easy to use! I got a poster board from there but haven't found a good spot for it yet!

Second up- fabric garland inspired by Little Miss Momma. Follow her tutorial for you own creation. I like her ideas at the end of making one for a baby shower or holiday.

Have you created anything lately?! I love doing simple projects which is why I choose these two!

P.S. You still have time to enter the giveaway.

Canvas love

I'm not very good at decorating that's no secret. So I love the idea that canvas' are becoming a "thing" in the realm of decorating. I think it's a little more timeless and artsy to hang a canvas with a picture than just a frame. And trust me I need all the help with decorating.

When  Easy Canvas Prints approached me and asked me to review their product I couldn't help to try it out! Our bedroom needed a family photo so I choose a picture from our photo shoot last fall. Easy Canvas made it easy to get your photo to canvas printing.  My canvas arrived way earlier than expected and it's always nice to get surprise mail!

It's the perfect addition to our bedroom and it's really durable if we ever wanted to hang it on the wall! I was really impressed with the quality of the picture. I do have a canvas from another company (honestly I don't know where it's from) of a wedding picture and the quality is not the same! Easy Canvas' quality is significantly better.

So now it's your turn one of these prizes:
- An 8"x10" Canvas Photo Prints From Easy Canvas Prints or
- A $25 BuildASign.com Gift Card
- A $25 Gift Card for Custom T-Shirts from Allied Shirts

Last.Summer.Break. Weekend

I start work on Thursday. I keep telling people I start work on August, 1st but now I think it is safe to say that August 1st isn't so far away. Holy crap batman, where did time go?

"So are you excited?"

"I'm excited and nervous and wondering where the heck to start. So thanks for asking"

Isn't that a typical question you get before something new. And let's not address that I'm 25 almost 26 and I'm starting my first big girl job!

Anyway so this weekend was kind of one of those running around from party to party.

Friday

No pictures, we just sat outside and had a few drinks.

Saturday

The biggest even for the blog to date happened. I did a Saturday Takeover for The Daily Tay

I hosted a bridal shower for my cousin. I turned into Betty freakin' Crocker for a day. I made this casserole. It's yummy you should try it!

Afterward a group of us went paintballing. It was my first time. Enough said.

We got back in to town just in time for my sister from another mister's 30th birthday celebration. A good time was had by all.

I have a picture from that but Photo Stream doesn't want it to be Monday and I'm too lazy to go back and get my cord!

149 sleeps till Christmas.. Just thought you should know.

One of those mornings

It has just been one of the those morning...

I have been struggling with buying my own domain which proves my illiteracy with webness things. Thanks to Chelsea at Olive & Ivy, I finally got it all sorted out this morning and now I am a .com! Woot-woot (with a fist pump).

Then I was laying on my couch with my computer on my lap, I went to re-adjust and boom corner of the computer right into my eyeball. It didn't hurt too bad! I just started laughing and Stella looked at me like..

and lastly, I made this yummy yummy dip for my cousin's shower tomorrow and I was taste-testing when the bowl slipped on my hand landed right smack down in the middle! I literally almost died of laughing!

Anyway, linking up with Miss. Whitney for #backthatazzup

Take a back road

Have you heard that Rodney Atkins' song?!

Here's a reminder

Take a Back Road by Rodney Atkins on Grooveshark

It hits home for me! Especially when I was busy during graduate school and stuck in traffic in big 'ole Omaha.

There is something special about taking a back road, hearing the sounds of nature, and enjoying the country.

Since I got my new camera and took a class I've been practicing a bit. Scott and I took some back roads! Too attempt to capture the beautiful place that we live.

Here are some photos! Be nice, I'm still learning!

How awkward, first time Scott took pics the blog!
Just a dirt road... open spaces

Have you taken any back roads and experienced the "country"?

Sami's Shenanigans

The weekend basically revolved around my friends shower/bachelorette party.

It was at her family's cabin so it was very relaxed but still very "Pinteresty"! I will let the pictures do the talking :)

I made the glasses on the left with chalkboard paint!

Going to the chapel

NOTE: I so thought I posted this yesterday and was thinking to myself "Why is absolutely nobody commenting"... Duh Samantha you didn't actually post it!

Ahhh weddings...

I have attended a few  more like 20 in the last two years. I'm not joking either!

Sometimes I feel weddings around small towns lose a bit of intimacy. I mean over 500 people were invited to our wedding. This is a part that I would have liked to change. I don't like being the center of attention and I really don't believe all those people love watching you in love.

Anyway since I've attended a lot of weddings in the recent years I have decided on my favorite moment.

When the groom sees the bride walking down the aisle.

Even if they see each other before the ceremony there is something about that moment. I especially love it when the groom chokes up. Scott told me he wouldn't cry on our wedding day and as I walked down the aisle he kept looking down and make his eyes all squinty, I'm sure there was just something in his eye. Right?!

and then there's this moment, when you have a drink in your hand and you think everything is gonna be alright!

What's your favorite moment?!

Things I learned this week

I've learned a few things this week that I thought you should know about.. this way you have better insight to who I am!

1. I fixed the vacuum...my husband did not! He may have been gone all week but he had plenty of time to try and well, let's just say, "Ha, ha, ha".

2. Kids make me laugh. This week has been swimming lessons week and the stuff some of them just say makes me laugh really hard.

3.  And Mike Posner is awesome in my book!

My story

Have you noticed my quote underneath my pic over there to the right?!?!

Let me explain more about this... I discovered Glennon Melton's blog Momastry which is when I discovered the quote.

and then .. I discovered her book!

Since I had some things weighing heavy on my heart . And I needed a book to read for the summer I thought why not read her book on vacation?!

I am so happy I did ...she has such a good way of articulating life and ideas that are often in my mind.

And then she posted this on her blog ...and I looked at that quote from a different perspective.

Isn't this so true... in a small town it is easy to get wrapped up in someone else's story. I do not want to get caught up in it.. but it's hard and I try not to.

So right now I'm re-reading the book and highlighting the words that hit me in the heart so when life gets busy and crazy I can read them and remember what I'm trying to do instead of getting caught up in what everyone else is doing!

My Color

When Erin posted that she was starting her own blog design business and to get started she was offering reasonable pricing and I started not liking my design, I knew that I couldn't miss this opportunity!

I have been slightly obsessed with this color when it comes to home decor lately!

See my bedroom, a frame (DIY I'm working on) and my lamp.

So yes... I love it! Thanks Erin!

Scale of 1 to Awesome-ness...

My friend Kristin asked on a scale of 1 to awesome-ness how awesome was Bieber... and let me tell you it was awesome times a million..but so was my whole weekend :)

My weekend was basically a perfect summer weekend!

Linking up with Sami!
Sami's Shenaniganss

Friday

Scott and I went to see The Heat. It was funny ..Scott was nervous because it was two chicks but he definitely laughed. He even told one of our friends if you don't laugh while watching you don't have a funny bone!

I snuck in my moolatte from DQ. Do you think anyone could tell?

Purse: Jessica Simpson

Saturday

It was time for Bieber! Woo- Wooo

Scott's little cousin came with me to the concert. The concert was so good! He is a great entertainer. Not to mention Mike Posner was really good ...like I'm pretty sure I would see just him again. And Hot Chelle Rae wasn't so bad themselves. I definitely feel like a 17 year old girl in a 25 year old body!

Judge if you want... but I'm pretty sure everyone who is judging me likes Taylor Swift in some capacity and hey, I won't judge you if you don't judge me! : )

Sunday

Baseball game with the best friends that anyone could have and ended with a Sunday night drive as a family!

P.S. We had some beergaritas! nom nom

How awesome was your weekend?!?!

P.S. I'm guest posting over at fellow Nebraska blogger Sara's! So you should go check it out!

Headaches...

No I'm not talking about a Fourth of July headache...although I wish I was!

I'm talking email headaches. I decided to get another new email address because I hate when things aren't organized the way I like them.

So I got a new one and now I'm trying to forward old stuff and make sure that everything with the blog aligns with my new email address!

So my new email address is (drumroll please)

samanthabayerblog@gmail.com

Have you guys ever changed your email address?
....

and then hated it two months later?!!

or

Have you not really put much thought into an address because you never thought you were going to use it?

That was me...

I hated: sbayer4640@gmail.com and so now I'm using the new one and you should too!

and because you are supposed to put pictures in your post every time, here's a random one!

These were my attempted Red White and Blue pancakes! Yummy but not what I was goin' for!

Reasons why

If you don't know, 4th of July is my 2nd favorite holiday.

Christmas is first ...obviously.

Reasons why the 4th is my fave, well 2nd.

1. It's during summer and summer is my favorite time of year. Although I'm becoming fonder of the other seasons.

2. The food and drinks are delish. Fresh veggies from the garden and meat on the grill..you can't beat it.  And then there is the  beergaritas. Click for recipe.. they are way better than the Lime-aritas or whatever they are!

3. And fireworks! Every year for a very long time we are at our friend's cabin for fireworks and fun. Sadly this year I will be at the Bieber concert and I am so sad I'm missing this... like really sad. But it must be destined because a couple years ago during the mud volleyball tournament I got a Bieber tattoo for 50 cent.

4. Because I love America!

PS: You may have missed my second post yesterday ...go check it out!

Use me & Abuse Me

Well, Miss. Taylor has given me the most brilliant idea ever. And by giving I mean I read her blog and she suggested it so I'm gonna take her advice because it appears as if she's pretty good at doing the 'ole blogging thing.

So from now until August 3rd I will be doing a guest post for whoever wants me! Seriously, summers a busy time and sometimes we all need a little help! But if you want we can just flip-flop days too! You know like do a whole Freaky Friday!  So I am at your service... (eww not in that kind of way)

But comment or email me samatha.bayer@hotmail.com

Can't wait :) Unless nobody takes me up on this ...then that will be embarrassing!

Insecure- seriousness

*Note: this is probably the most "real" I've ever gotten on the blog and serious. Sorry, but it feels good to write thoughts down and if no one reads them... oh well. I feel better : )

Insecurity is a funny concept.

I 've never really felt all that insecure about my body (don't shun me). I often do think I could work out more and look a lot better and I have parts of my body I don't really like.  But honestly, I don't think I've ever really felt the way some women feel. I'm not trying to show off.... I'm just trying to explain myself better.

Since I have never really felt insecure about myself physically,  I thought I didn't know what being "insecure" felt like because I only associated it with one concept.

But now I have a different insecurity. This one comes with feeling belonged and loved particularly with friends. The psychology major in me over analyzes everything. But I notice I seem to feel bothered and paranoid when people (whom I consider close friends) don't do the silliest things such as "like" my picture of Facebook... or don't ever reach out to me....return text messages... seriously the dumbest things.

Which by now I'm sure you are thinking, well duh... maybe they aren't good friends. No, they are good friends I feel that we're at different points in our lives.

And then I ask: Why am I so concerned?

Right?!  I know I have friends who are always there.. and always respond....comment ... and "like" post...text me when something reminds them of me.

Do I really need the ones who don't? Why does it bother me so much? Shouldn't I be happy with the ones that are good friends? Not to mention I have a good hubby and a lovely dog.

So why does it bother me sooooo much?!

Wait for it.. you guessed it, my psych major brain is coming out again.

I believe there could be 1 or 2 reasons.

1. I am an only child. (no I'm not a freak and yes, I'm difficult to live with..so I've been told) . I loved my childhood and growing up. I always had friends and was around people. I was rarely bored. But I think part of my insecurity comes from being an only child. My friends with siblings always have them as friends and have them to call. No matter when you have a brother or sister you are always going to feel like you belong... I don't want to blame being an only child on anything though. I just feel like it is something I have to figure out for myself.

2. The second reason has to do with the small, teeny, tiny town (600 pop) live in. Again, I have more pride for this town than anything else. But along with this there is also the "everybody knows everybody". And so I know who is hanging out with who or talking to who. I don't like that part of it at all.  I think if you get too caught up you start focusing on what you don't have rather than what you do have. This makes me feel insecure. I need to take a step back and realize that not everyone has to be my friend.
